About workhourcalculator.com

A small set of free calculators for people who get paid by the hour, bill by the hour, or fill in the timesheets of people who do.

What this site is

Work-time arithmetic is simple and easy to get wrong at the end of a shift. These tools do one thing each: hours between two times, a weekly or biweekly time card, business days between dates, overtime pay, decimal hours. No account, no app, no sign-up.

How the calculators work

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or stored. The Share link button keeps your entries in the link itself, after the # — browsers never send that part of a URL — so a bookmark brings them back and nobody else sees them.

Each tool shows its formula and a worked example under the inputs, and a "Last reviewed" date so you can tell how current it is. That date moves when someone actually checks the page, not when the site is rebuilt; this one was last reviewed on 16 October 2026.

Accuracy and limits

Totals are exact to the minute, and nothing is rounded until the final conversion to decimal hours. Pay results are gross pay, before taxes and deductions.

Where a page states a rule rather than doing arithmetic — when overtime starts, which days are federal holidays — it comes from the primary source and says so on the page. The federal holiday dates are computed from 5 U.S.C. § 6103 and checked against the Office of Personnel Management's published schedules for 2011 to 2030.

Rules about overtime, rounding and holidays vary by state, employer and contract. This site explains the common federal case and marks what needs checking. It is not legal, tax or payroll advice, and it is not affiliated with any government agency.

Advertising

No advertising runs on this site today. No ad script is loaded and no ad network is involved. The layout reserves space for ads below the tools, because the plan is to pay for the site that way — and when that happens, this page and the privacy policy will name the network and link its policy before a single ad appears.

Wherever they go, they go below the tool, never between the inputs and the result.

Write to hello@workhourcalculator.com and include the inputs you used. Corrections are the most useful mail we get, and a calculator that gives a wrong answer is the one thing here that genuinely matters.
